Mathilde Lebert

Principal Oboe at the Orchestre National de France

Mathilde Lebert began her musical studies at the Conservatory of Nantes, her hometown, first with cello and then oboe. After graduating in September 2006, she was admitted to the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Lyon, where she pursued her studies with Jean-Louis Capezzali, Jérôme Guichard and Fabien Thouand. She received her Master Degree in 2011 with honours. From 2014 to 2016, she studied with Christian Schmitt in the Stuttgart Musikhochschule, where she obtained a Konzertexam soloist diploma.

As a student, she participated in several orchestral and chamber music projects. She was invited to play with renowned youth orchestras such as the National Youth Orchestra of Netherlands and the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, under the direction of the maestros Christoph Eschenbach, Ivan Fischer, and Christopher Hogwood, among others. During that period, she played regularly with the prestigious orchestras Opernhaus Zürich and the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse.

Since 2006, Mathilde has been playing with the K-Wind Quintet, one of the most promising ensembles of its kind. The quintet has won two international competitions: second prize at the 5th International Chamber Music Competition (Lyon, 2008), and third prize at the Tomasi International Competition (2009).

She was named principal oboe at the Orchestre des Pays de Savoie (2010), co-soloist at the Orchestre National de France (2011), and principal oboe at the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris (2015). Since November 2017, she performs as Principal Oboe at the Orchestre National de France.

First prize winner of the Muri International Competition (Switzerland) in April 2016, she regularly performs as soloist with piano for recitals or with orchestra, in France and abroad (Orchestre des Pays de Savoie, Stuttgarter Philharmoniker, Stuttgarter Kammerorchester). She took part of the “Rising stars!” Festival in 2016, where she performed the Mozart Concerto with the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz.
